You have come to the right place if you seek support, encouragement, and a safe space to talk about life’s challenges and ways to cope.
Hello! My name is Molly, and my focus is to help you to learn ways to deal with the challenges that come your way. Each session will last about 50 minutes and this time is for you. How often we meet is based on what you need, and you get to decide the pace and the frequency of sessions. Over time, as you are feeling better and coping with life’s challenges, we can meet less often. Again, this is your time, and you get to set the pace and length of our time together.
At the beginning of each session, we will start with a check in since the last time we met. We will use the first few sessions to get to know one another and I will learn your strengths and areas of your life that you would like to talk about. We will create goals that you want to work on, and I will help you come up with ways to address these areas in a meaningful way. We will create a treatment plan to use to track progress. This plan will be reviewed every 3 months to assure that we still are focused on your goals, and we will adjust these goals as your needs change.us as needed.
How does this therapy thing work?
Therapy works best when there is trust and a sense of connection and I will do my best to build this with you. I believe a sense of humor goes a long way when working with others and I hope to leave you with a bit lighter at the end of each session. My job is to help empower you and help you build upon your own strengths. Sometimes you may want to use the time to process current events while other times you may want to explore how earlier experiences in your life continue to affect you today. Before the end of each session, I will set aside time to ask you if you have anything else to discuss. If we do not have the time to fully discuss, we will prioritize this for the next session. I may ask you to complete homework between sessions so that you can practice new skills. This is meant to be helpful but is by no means necessary or meant to cause you any added stress in your life. You have enough of that going on and my job is to help lighten your load, not add to it. This time is for you, and I want you to feel safe, seen, and heard every time we meet.
About Me
Personal experience provides me a unique perspective
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over thirty years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families in mental health settings and medical social work. For the past decade, I have worked as a medical social worker with patients affected by congenital heart disease. I have had the opportunity to stand alongside patients and families as they cope with the challenges and triumphs of being “1 in a 100.” No two experiences are the same, but talking with someone who knows the general stressors of caring for a child with CHD can help with coping with interventions and have a safe space to process these experiences. I have also worked with children, adolescents, and their parents, whose lives were saved by the gift of transplantation.
My areas of focus over the years have been helping children, adolescents, and adults cope with depression, anxiety, chronic illness, transition from pediatric to adult care, and grief and loss. I love being a therapist because I enjoy helping others. I have experienced the gifts of feeling seen, heart, and understood and my hope is to give that same experience to you.
My educational and professional qualifications…
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, in the early 1990’s. I spend my first year after college volunteering with an organization that helped runaway and homeless youth. This work laid the foundation for the social worker I continue to be each day. I used my accounting degree, much to my parents’ delight, for a year before pursuing my Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Georgia. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2001 and have worked as a therapist in a number of settings since that time. Additionally, I have been credentialed by the Society for Transplant Social Workers as both a Certified Clinical Transplant Social Worker and a Mechanical Circulatory Support Social Worker since 2014. I remain a lifelong learner and enjoy building my skillset through continuing education opportunities in the field.
I am licensed in Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Michigan, South Carolina and Vermont.

How I fill my time outside of work:
I am an avid college football fan. This means that you will find me watching all manner of teams each Saturday during the season. My spare time centers around time spent with my family who live close by (we are lucky that way).
I have enjoyed taking part in the lives of my nieces and nephews as they grew up and now have the pleasure of sharing in their lives as adults.
My sweet 12-year-old dog, Mary Catherine, owns a large piece of real estate in my heart and she is happiest when we are out on walks and with family. I probably enjoy Netflix and reality television more than I should, and I am always up for a game of trivia with friends.
