Because insurance coverage varies by state, plan type, and individual benefits, we recommend confirming eligibility prior to beginning services.

Commercial Insurance Plans

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
    • We accept many BCBS PPO and commercial plans
    • BCBS HMO plan (Blue Care Network) is accepted for Michigan plans only
    • BCBS HMO plans outside of Michigan are not accepted
  • Aetna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Magellan
    • We accept select Magellan plans
    • Acceptance varies by employer group, authorization requirements, and state

Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

  • Ulliance (EAP)
    • We accept Ulliance Employee Assistance Program referrals
    • EAP services require employer authorization and are limited to a defined number of sessions

Medicare

  • Medicare Part A & Part B
  • Select Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans

Acceptance of Medicare Part A & Part B does not guarantee acceptance of all Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare Advantage coverage varies by carrier, state, and plan design.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. Heart and Mind Counseling works with many insurance providers, including commercial insurance, Medicare, select Medicare Advantage plans, Michigan Medicaid plans, and some Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs).

Because coverage varies by state, plan type, and individual benefits, acceptance is confirmed on a case-by-case basis.

Do you verify insurance benefits for clients?

Yes. Our administrative team works diligently to verify insurance benefits prior to the start of services whenever possible. This typically includes reviewing network status, copays or coinsurance, deductibles, visit limits, and authorization requirements.

While we make every effort to accurately verify insurance information and share the details provided to us, insurance plans and coverage are ultimately managed by the insurance company. Clients are encouraged to also review their benefits directly with their insurer to fully understand their coverage and any potential out-of-pocket responsibilities.

Does insurance verification guarantee coverage?

No. Insurance verification is not a guarantee of payment. Insurance companies make final determinations based on plan rules, medical necessity, and coverage at the time services are rendered.

Clients are responsible for any charges not covered by their insurance plan.

Do you accept BCBS HMO plans?

We accept BCBS HMO plans for Michigan plans only.
BCBS HMO plans outside of Michigan are not accepted.

We do accept many BCBS PPO and commercial plans, subject to verification.

Do you accept Medicare?

Yes. We accept Medicare Part A & Part B and select Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans.

Medicare Advantage plans vary by carrier, state, and plan design and may require referrals or prior authorization.

Do you accept Medicaid?

We accept Michigan Medicaid plans only, including:

  • Blue Cross Complete
  • McLaren

We do not accept Medicaid plans outside of Michigan.

Do you accept Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)?

Yes. We accept Ulliance EAP referrals.

  • Require active employer authorization
  • Are limited to a specific number of sessions determined by the employer

Do I need a referral or prior authorization?

Some plans require referrals, prior authorization, or periodic reauthorization. This is more common with Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and EAP plans. Our team will let you know if additional steps are required.

Does insurance cover telehealth therapy?

Many insurance plans cover telehealth psychotherapy services. Coverage varies based on your insurance plan, state regulations, and provider credentialing. Telehealth eligibility is reviewed during the insurance verification process.
