Helping You Rebuild Trust in Yourself
Hi! I am Lindsay Sima — it is so nice to meet you.
In our sessions, my goal is to create a space that feels less like a clinical appointment and more like a safe harbor. Whether you are navigating the heavy fog of depression, the constant hum of anxiety, the impact of trauma, healing from a difficult relationship, trying to leave one, or simply surviving within one, you do not have to carry it alone. We will celebrate your wins together (sometimes with a loud “Yaassssss!” that may startle my dog) and walk through the struggles with equal parts compassion, honesty, and authenticity.
What Working Together Looks Like
Our time together is led by you — what is on your mind and the goals you want to reach. After more than 12 years in this field, I have developed a deep “toolbox” of therapeutic approaches to support emotional healing, trauma recovery, self-esteem, and healthier relationship patterns.
However, this is your journey. If a particular tool or “homework” assignment does not feel right, we pivot. I value kind, open communication, and I aim to be a partner in your healing who is genuine, authentic, and not afraid to use a little humor to lighten the load.
Healing and Moving Forward
Healing is not a linear path, but it is one we travel at your pace. Together, we will work to set boundaries that protect your peace, rebuild trust in yourself, and process the impact trauma and difficult relationships can leave behind. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating relational trauma, emotionally harmful or narcissistic relationships, anxiety, depression, and chronic stress while providing an affirming, safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community.
I also understand how chronic illness, caregiving dynamics, and life stressors can sometimes leave people feeling stuck in unhealthy relational patterns or disconnected from their own needs and sense of self. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered with tools that help you move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and self-compassion.
My Approach to Healing
Healing is not about perfection — it is about learning how to move through life with greater self-awareness, support, and compassion for yourself along the way. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, empowering, and human.
I believe healing happens through connection, authenticity, and feeling safe enough to be fully yourself. No matter what you are carrying, you do not have to navigate it alone.
About Me
My path to therapy began in the medical field. It was my time as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) that sparked my desire to help people through their internal battles, leading me to shift from physical crisis intervention to mental health advocacy.
My Educational and Professional Qualifications
- Master of Social Work — Western Michigan University
- Bachelor of Psychology with a focus in Neuroscience — Central Michigan University
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
- Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC)
My background in neuroscience makes me a bit of a “nerd” for how the brain works, and I use that knowledge to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care that helps clients better understand themselves, their nervous systems, and their patterns of healing.
Insurance Plans I Accept
- Blue Cross Blue Shield
- Blue Care Network (Michigan)
- Optum / United Healthcare
Life Outside the Therapy Room
When I am not working with clients, you will likely find me outside. I find nature incredibly grounding and therapeutic and am currently working toward becoming a certified Extension Master Gardener through Michigan State University.
I live in West Michigan with my husband and our dog, Journey. I am a bird watcher (I get far too excited for the first robins of spring), a community garden volunteer, and a massive fan of Halloween. In fact, I am one of “those people” who proudly keeps a 10-foot skeleton in my yard year-round!
